David and Delfina Hernandez Can't stop listening to your album.
Who is playing the pedal steel guitar?
Wish Bandcamp listed all musicians...I just never can get enough info about the music! (Why I listen to Fiachna, and Cathal and Phillip King and Ciara and Sheelagh too!)
Delfina loves your album too.

Welcome to our new album NEW MOON ON FRIDAY. Greenshines’ albums are known to be an eclectic mix of genres which dovetail well thanks to the harmonies, instrumentation and production style. For NEW MOON ON FRIDAY, we were interested in exploring our Country, Americana and American Folk influences in particular, and the collection features original songs and some choice classic covers. While it’s still an eclectic mix, it’s a smorgasbord that’s laid out in the broad church that is Country. On here you’ll find styles that range from Classic Country Torch Songs, through Southern Gothic Country, to Carter Family inspired American Folk. Expect harmonies, stories, Theremin and a dreamy Instrumental.
Several tracks featured on RTE Recommends List and featured in the top 3 in the Airplay Chart. As usual, it will be wall to wall harmonies & story songs with the introduction of the Theremin (!) and a dreamy instrumental (Noel Shine surpassed himself). Initial signs are great - RECORD OF THE MONTH The Songwriter's Show, Downda road radio and RECORD OF THE WEEK David Dee Moore Show on Blues and Roots Radio. FEATURED ALBUM Jean Curran's Private Collection on Highland Radio. We are joined on the album by guest singer Sadie Shine, Martin Leahy on Drums. Bass on 1 track, David Murphy on Pedal Steel, Weissenborn Guitar and Dobro, Christy O Connell on Electric Guitar and Hannah Murphy, harmony on Basically Blue.
Early **NEW MOON ON FRIDAY" album reaction:

"An early Easter Sunday morning walk listening to 'New Moon on Friday' from Greenshine. Mary Greene has developed into a beautiful songwriter. Loving the opening track 'Own Good Time'. Great lyrics and a jaunty banjo to herald Summer days," Liam Murphy, Arts Correspondant, The Munster Express.

"Mary Greene, a songwriter like no other," Sheelagh Dempsey, RTE Radio1.

"I went straight to Lineman and the hairs on the back of my neck are still getting over it! It's a brilliant song but this is something else. Move over Glen, this version is definitive." Noel Casey, Dublin City Fm.

"Congratulations on your fabulous new album. I look forward to playing much more," Eve Blair, BBC Radio Ulster

OWN GOOD TIME Good times came, good times gone. Back up the bus and let me on Haven't seen enough of a good time yet. Don't tell me that's all I get Wreck my buzz, you commit a crime. Give me back my own good time I'll make us laugh or kill us tryin'. Don't you dare wreck my own good time Could loll around in bed all day. I earned the right to feel that way Wouldn't put a dog through what I've been through No one to blame, no one to sue But wreck my buzz you commit a crime. Give me back my own good time I'll make us laugh or kill us tryin'. Don't you dare wreck my own good time All I want is a walk on the beach, Metalman, chips and Waltzers Kickabout on a Summer's day laughing like we ought to Dinner and a glass of wine, karaoke in the car, I feel fine So many good times gone behind, so many more to go BREAK No lonesome vibe, no heartsore sister, no awkward friend, no missing mister No angel of death, no sneaky jibe is going to kill my own good time But wreck my buzz you commit a crime. Let me have my own good time Don't rock my boat, don't you foul my line. Don't you dare wreck my own good time Sidestep the sucker punch. Sorry there trouble, out to lunch Jump with a chute as the plane goes down Floating gently to the ground

BIG BLACK BAG Mary Greene In the middle of the night worry, worry, worry, worry In the middle of the night there’s no sense to it at all One little thought gets in your head, grows and drags you from your bed Darkness in the corner, shadows on the wall Don’t let it rule, don’t feed the doubt, tie it up in a big black bag and throw it out You hear defiant music in the night, still you feel alone Feel the darkness might be comin for ya to drag you down There’s nowhere to run, no place to hide but it only takes hold if you let it inside Just because you’re in the water, doesn’t mean you’re going to drown Don’t let it rule, don’t feed the doubt, tie it up in a big black bag and throw it out You’re inside a circle of light, inside a circle of light, inside a circle of light, you’re alright Sweep your cloak around you, step into the day Find allies to surround you to keep the blues at bay There’s a little voice of reason, listen to that voice. Send out your dearest wishes to the shaman of your choice Don’t give in to the dark path, find another way Don’t let it rule, don’t feed the doubt, tie it up in a big black bag....... and throw it out BIG BLACK BAG Mary Greene In the middle of the night worry, worry, worry, worry In the middle of the night there’s no sense to it at all One little thought gets in your head, grows and drags you from your bed Darkness in the corner, shadows on the wall Don’t let it rule, don’t feed the doubt, tie it up in a big black bag and throw it out You hear defiant music in the night, still you feel alone Feel the darkness might be comin for ya to drag you down There’s nowhere to run, no place to hide but it only takes hold if you let it inside Just because you’re in the water, doesn’t mean you’re going to drown Don’t let it rule, don’t feed the doubt, tie it up in a big black bag and throw it out You’re inside a circle of light, inside a circle of light, inside a circle of light, you’re alright Sweep your cloak around you, step into the day Find allies to surround you to keep the blues at bay There’s a little voice of reason, listen to that voice. NOTHING CAN DIVIDE (Mary Greene) We don’t have the power to add another hour to life We’re turned aside to sleep But if we keep each other’s memory alive we’ll never parted be Now I do not go for weariness of thee I know you know how very much you mean to me And I expect to see you smile every day as you remember me I must travel far and wide but nothing can divide us now This new world that is shown onto my waking soul will be endowed On you my love. I’ll l hold a place for you And so my love when your turn comes round too We’ll be face to face once again just like we were before Don’t be full of fear. I am always near you now And that little breath you sense you can take as evidence, I vow Last night the sun went down yet here it is again today We all need a little faith to help us on our way To whatever promised land we happen to understand is true A garden full of air, a wisp of angel’s hair, a silver sea To others it might be some lovely glorious nothing that they see Whichever is your friend, it all involved a love that has no end.

NEW MOON ON FRIDAY (Mary Greene) There was a time when the dreams that were mine were yours’ as well my dear Till they drifted slowly to the ground and faded like the falling year I saw the light of love in your eyes and that love once set us free Now it’s the darkness of duty that keeps you here with me There’s a new moon on Friday that’ll give you the strength to go That same new moon will light my way to the truth that I must know Love cannot be a chain of gold. Love must be a key And I open up my arms now so you can fly away from me I am no angel. I am no saint. I’m a fallen idol in the chapel of love crumbling plaster and peeling paint It will be a lie if you see me smile as I lead you to the door And there’ll be times when I will curse you and wonder what our love was for But There’s a new moon on Friday that’ll give you the strength to go That same new moon will light my way to the truth that I must know Love cannot be a chain of gold. Love must be a key And I open up my arms now so you can fly away from me There were never any angels in this house Just the light of love and now the light’s gone out But Love cannot be a chain of gold. Love must be a key And I open up my arms now so you can fly away from me I open up my arms now so you can fly away from me

EARLY REACTION TO NEW MOON ON FRIDAY.

"Mary has honed her craft as an impressive songwriter over the years and has written or cowritten all except one of the original songs here. There’s an unhurried, reassuring, ambiance emanating from the recording that is hard to resist." Éilis Boland. lonesomehighway.com

"New Moon On Friday, is another milestone in the career of the folk and contemporary trio, Greenshine. Featuring Mary Greene, her husband Noel Shine (multi-instrumentalist) and daughter Ellie. It also marks another confident step in Mary's reputation as an astute songwriter. She has established interest and respect for her family-oriented songs that deal with relevant and contemporary concerns that are heartfelt and inspirational," Liam Murphy, Arts Correspondent Munster Express.

"I went straight to Lineman and the hairs on the back of my neck are still getting over it! It's a brilliant song but this is something else. Move over Glen, this version is definitive." Noel Casey, Dublin City Fm.

"Congratulations on your fabulous new album. I look forward to playing a lot more." Eve Blair, BBC Ulster.

"Loving this collection....such great, well-chosen & played covers & absolutely stunning originals. Finest yet" Martin Bridgeman, KCLRfm

"Mary Greene, a songwriter like no other," Sheelagh Dempsey, RTE Radio1.
